How to learn Arabic (a must read and comment thread!)
as Salamu alaikum.
The question of what is the best way to learn Arabic is really still up in the air. This is even more true of the question of, "what is the best way to learn Arabic ON YOUR OWN?" Some of the articles linked to below discuss the topic of learning Arabic very generally while others touch on or address directly the question of how to learn one one's own. At any rate, I think that the articles will be valuable for those of who are trying to figure out how to approach learning Arabic on our own (or nearly so). They all have rather different philosophies so be prepared to ask yourself a lot of questions after reading them all!
